Letter: Coal and wind turbines. Can't have one without the other

This letter writer believes there's "no such thing as clean energy."
wind turbines
Wind turbines.

The Editor:

So, carbon tax rises rapidly to $170 per tonne by 2030.

Do you realize it takes 100 to 150 tons of coal to make a wind turbine?

Coal is needed to make the cement 32,000 tons (note one ton of CO2 = one ton of cement) the rebar 12,000 tons plus oil to with carbon propellers more coal for the steel generator transmission and hundreds of miles off copper wire most estimated are 240,000 tons of CO2 to make an 80-metre wind turbine.

Thus, at 170 bucks a ton, it is over $40 million in taxes to build one turbine or will they be exempt.

What about housing how many tons of cement to build a high rises?

Wind turbine have a life of about 20 to 25 years max, then more CO2 to decommission Solar the same life span a bit longer.

There is no such thing as clean energy.

Millions of CO2 eating trees destroyed to make the Site C Dam; CO2 foot prints about 300,000,000 tons a year because of tree loss.
