Re: Burnaby parks users showed why parks should be closed, NOW Opinion
I'd like to respectfully comment on Chris Campbell's continued negativity and ask he refrain and find some positivity in his outlook.
I live at Deer Lake and while I would agree that there are a lot of people getting their exercise there, myself included, I have experienced people being very careful, mindful and adhering to the city's requests and suggestions.
I adjusted my routines because of the increased traffic and have no problem doing that as I am laid off so my schedule is flexible.
An extremely important part of not getting sick or keeping your immunity to combat illness is staying healthy. This includes outside fresh air exercise time to keep the mind inside the body strong.
This is a truth most, if not all, doctors will recommend and support. Staying positive and taking responsibility for oneself is also a major influence on our health. I, for one, find a huge importance to stay connected to nature and my body through nature in times of stress.
The city is doing an excellent job of being mindful and supportive of residents needing to be outside.
An extra step could be taken city-wide to reduce the numbers by creating a system where people can alternate using the parks by addresses of odd/evens, daytime/nighttime. It’s extremely important to have a strong immune system. Exercise, outdoor space and positive outlook is a proven part of this.
Chris, positive reinforcement of our media's perspective is helpful, too.
