DRUMMER BOY

The Dance Centre is presenting the premiere of a new work by the sensational performer Shay Kuebler from Dec. 6 to 8, and Burnaby's own martial artist and taiko drummer, Jason Overy, will be part of the cast.

The show, called Karoshi - Japanese for "death by overwork," - examines the clash between social pressures and individual freedom.

Performed by an all-male ensemble, Karoshi combines explosive choreography, live taiko drumming and innovative video to create a "thrilling and visceral theatrical experience, full of maniacle energy and black humour," according to a press release.

The Scotiabank Dance Centre is located at Level 6, 677 Davie St. in Vancouver.
