The Burnaby Lake Rugby Club will be fielding a host of teams at the second stop on B.C. Rugby Union Summer Sevens tour.
Burnaby Lake will be defending its elite men's and women's division titles at the Lighthouse 7s at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex-East on Saturday.
The elite men will feature some top-flight competition from Old Puget Sound and Kolofo'ou from Washington State. Abbotsford, winners of the series opener in Vancouver last month, will also be in attendance.
The women will split their forces into a Blue and White team for the day-long tournament. Vancouver winner Mudhens will be looking to avenge their only defeat in the series opener.
The Burnaby club will also field its under-19 team alongside a select club president's 7s team in the social men's division.
Simon Fraser University will also compete in the social men's group.
The Burnaby Lake u-14 team will compete in a seven-team high school division.
Championship play starts at 3 p.m. with the u-14 final.
Semifinals for all other divisions begin at 4 p.m. with the group finals, scheduled to begin at 4: 50 p.m.
The elite women's and men's finals will follow.
The Summer 7s series finishes up in Abbotsford on July 28.
SFU will also host the Highland Summer Sevens invitational tournament on Burnaby Mountain on July 14.
On u-23 team
Evan Thomas of Burnaby Lake will make a start at wing on the roster of B.C.'s under-23 men's rugby team today (Friday) against touring English side Durham University.
The match kickoff is 6: 30 p.m. at Klahanie Park in West Vancouver.
