Longtime pub closes up

Pub manager says they had 'the best customers' at longtime city institution

The Village Inn Pub, tucked just behind Lougheed Town Centre in the Lougheed Village complex, has closed after 19 years.

The pub at 9532 Erickson Dr. closed at the beginning of May, according to general manager Wes Taylor.

"The people who bought the property didn't want to run the pub," he said.

The pub is part of the four-tower Lougheed Village rental suite and retail complex, which sold for more than $80 million to Beach Properties, according to The Vancouver Sun.

"We had some of the best customers, and they appreciated the value that they got here," Taylor said of the pub. "It's very unfortunate."

Taylor said there aren't any plans at this point to open in a new location.
