One of Burnaby's most wanted priority offenders is in jail, thanks to the keen observations of an off-duty Burnaby RCMP officer.
A 33-year-old Maple Ridge man is facing multiple break-and-enter charges after being recognized by the Burnaby officer at 9: 30 a.m. on Oct. 1.
"The member recognized the most wanted from an intelligence bulletin and didn't hesitate to arrest him on the spot," Burnaby Chief Supt. Dave Critchley said in a press release. "I am very proud of the work the members do on a daily basis. . We are seeing reductions in all property related crime types, which I attribute to the great work being done by the members, staff and volunteers and the success of our crime reduction strategy."
Between July and October of this year, the Burnaby RCMP identified a series of break-and-enters to apartment building laundry rooms where the coin-operated machines were broken into. Significant resources were dedicated to find out who was responsible for these crimes, which led to a suspect being identified, and several warrants for his arrest being granted.
