A man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of breach of probation in connection with two sexual assaults that occurred last week along Kingsway.
Early in the morning of Saturday, Dec. 29, two women were attacked and sexually assaulted within three blocks of each other in South Burnaby.
The two assaults occurred within a 20-minute time span, at Kingsway and Dufferin Avenue and Kingsway and Waltham Avenue, and according to a Burnaby RCMP press release, the assaults appear to have been committed by the same person. Neither of the women knew each other or the male assailant.
The Burnaby RCMP worked with the Surrey RCMP and Transit Police officers and arrested a man within 24 hours.
The man, who is known to police, appeared in court late Monday and is scheduled to appear in court later this week.
Because of a publication ban, no further details, including the accused's name, can be released.
