A 42-year-old man was arrested around 3:30 a.m. April 25 at Drake Street and Pacific Boulevard after a struggle with police.

The Vancouver Police Department was responding to a report that a man threatened a security guard with a hammer. When they arrived the man allegedly made threatening gestures at police.

"Officers deployed a Taser and bean bag shotgun rounds in order to safely take the man into custody. There were no injuries to the public," writes Sgt. Steve Addison in an email to Vancouver Is Awesome, responding to questions about reports of a shooting in the area.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment; police believe he "may have been experiencing mental health or drug psychosis at the time."
