A 41-year-old man was found dead in a Port Coquitlam home this week, and a special B.C. police unit has been called to the case.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says the victim died following an "altercation" and are on scene looking into the sudden incident.
Spokesperson Detective Corporal Sukhi Dhesi says there's no indication that the event is linked to Lower Mainland gang conflict.
"Our investigators are in the evidence collecting stages," she said.
"We are working closely with BC Coroners Service to gather evidence to determine what happen."
Around 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday (March 30), Coquitlam RCMP was called to a private residence in the 3100-block of Coast Meridian Road — located west of Birchwood Park — along with BC Emergency Health Services.
The victim was found deceased and investigators say all parties involved are believed to be known to each other.
IHIT is set to be working with local Mounties in completing "priority tasks."
