The man involved in the altercation with a seven-month pregnant woman at Metrotown SkyTrain station last month has stepped forward.

On Feb. 20 at 4:10 p.m., a report came forward of a man in an electric wheelchair who got into an argument with two women in the elevator at the Burnaby SkyTrain station.

One of the women, who's pregnant, was reportedly sent to hospital after receiving numerous cuts and scratches to her face, hands and legs from the altercation. She was released from hospital that evening.

Transit police sent out a press release earlier this week asking for help to identity the man involved in the incident.

"As a result of media attention to a release earlier this week ... the man has come forward and provided transit police investigators with a statement," TransLink's press release states. "We thank him for his attention to this matter."

The new information gathered has added to the active investigation, according to the release.

Transit police also thanked members of the public who came forward with information.
