One man is dead after a Monday afternoon car accident near the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue.
The man was driving an SUV eastbound on Lougheed Highway when he hit a two-ton truck.
The truck was traveling in the right hand lane and was turning into a gas station at the southeast corner of the Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue when the SUV, which was traveling in the bicycle lane, struck the side of the truck.
A dog which had been the in SUV was unhurt in the collision and was turned over to the SPCA for care.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation by members of the Burnaby RCMP traffic section and the integrated collision analysis and reconstruction service team.
