Burnaby Mounties are investigating after a man was killed when his car struck a pole near the Vancouver border Friday night.

A vehicle was travelling southbound on Boundary Road at 11:40 p.m. on Sept. 12 when it “either lost control or hit something on the road,” veered over to the Burnaby side of the road and struck a pole, according to Burnaby Staff Sgt. Maj. John Buis.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was killed.

At this time, police are still investigating what caused the car to veer off the road.

Buis told the NOWthat speed could have been a “contributing” factor in the crash.
