As concerns regarding the COVID-19 global health pandemic continue to rise, it is becoming increasingly difficult to access care in Burnaby while maintaining social distancing.
Many clinics are reducing hours or have stopped accepting walk-in patients all together for the health and safety of their staff.
To support physicians during the outbreak and to ensure safe healthcare access for patients, Medimap has launched a new service that connects patients in Burnaby with an available walk-in clinic doctor over secure video call.
This service is free for B.C. patients with valid MSP coverage and as of today will be provided to all B.C. clinics free of charge, says the company. With secure messaging, audio, and video available through the Medimap platform, doctors can provide a variety of services including COVID-19 advice and prescription refills.
Patients can access the service from a phone, tablet, or desktop computer. No download is required and the average wait to speak with a doctor is less than 10 minutes from the time you submit your request. This new virtual care service will help patients get timely access to care while avoiding the emergency department waiting rooms and allow British Columbians to continue to practice social distancing.
