The public has no reason to worry following a stabbing at Metropolis at Metrotown Monday night, according to Burnaby RCMP.

Mounties were called to the mall at about 7:25 p.m. on Dec. 22 following a report that a man had been stabbed, Staff Sgt. Rob Marks said.

“The victim initially reported that he thought he’d been punched but realized he’d been stabbed,” Marks said. “He is not cooperating with us.”

The victim was taken to hospital with a minor injury and is stable condition. Police believe the incident was targeted and it should not be a concern for residents or shoppers, Marks added.

Investigators are now combing through surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the suspect, who fled the scene before police were called.
