Newly elected Burnaby-Lougheed MLA Jane Shin has been appointed to a select standing committee on health.
There are nine parliamentary committees, each tasked with looking into issues that require more detailed examination than what can be covered in the legislature. Shin's appointment was on Wednesday.
Shin has a background in medicine; she was trained as a doctor but has never practised, and her credentials were a source of controversy surrounding the election, as previously reported in the Burnaby NOW.
Burnaby-Deer Lake MLA Kathy Corrigan was appointed to the public accounts committee, which primarily reviews auditor general reports.
