Parts of Lougheed Highway were previously closed by FortisBC as it replaced its gas line. Now it's proposing building a new gas line in Burnaby.

Work on the FortisBC gas line upgrade project will include a major lane closures starting this Friday as work continues to move east.

“Construction on our gas line upgrades is starting near the Production Way-Broadway intersection in Burnaby,” read a news release. “Work will largely take place on the existing rights-of-way, west of Production Way and south of Broadway.”

From next Friday, April 5, there will be lane closures on Broadway between Production Way and Gaglardi Way - with a lane kept open in both directions for east-west traffic. There will be no lane closures on Production Way for motorists travelling north or south.

Work on the segment is expected to finish in late May.

SPRINGER AND MADISON

Gas line upgrades are moving to the next stage at two sites in Burnaby. On Madison Avenue, there are temporary additional lane closures between Halifax Street and Lougheed Highway until early next week. At Springer Avenue, new lane closures will take effect on Friday, April 5.

COMO LAKE WORK

A reminder that westbound traffic is restricted to local access, buses and emergency vehicles only between Blue Mountain and Porter streets on Como Lake Avenue in Coquitlam.

“This is to give our crews the space they need to complete construction safely and as quickly as possible,” says FortisBC.
