More than 200 people have now been arrested in protests against Kinder Morgan’s pipeline expansion at the two Trans Mountain terminals in Burnaby.

On Friday, two protesters were arrested at both the Westridge marine and Burnaby Mountain terminals, bringing the total up to 202 as of Tuesday afternoon. The vast majority of arrests were related to violating the B.C. Supreme Court injunction that prohibits protesters from setting up blockades, from interfering with work at the terminals, and from going with five metres of the property.

Some demonstrators – including Burnaby South MP, and candidate for mayor of Vancouver Kennedy Stewart, and Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May – are being charged with criminal contempt of court, which is not a Criminal Code of Canada offence.
