Burnaby's MPs now have new posts, following an NDP shadow cabinet shuffle in Ottawa.

Burnaby-New Westminster MP Peter Julian is the new critic for energy and natural resources, leaving his previous post as finance critic.

"This is a critical area for Canada as we find ourselves victimized by the Harper government's decision to shut down environmental assessments as well as continue to ship our resources offshore without any value-added processing," Julian said in a media statement.

Julian, one of the longer-serving NDP MPs in Parliament, has also been a critic for the treasury board, international trade and industry.

Burnaby-Douglas MP Kennedy Stewart, now serving his first term in office, is the new critic for science and technology. His previous post was associate critic for natural resources for Western Canada.
