'My brothers lost their home': Burnaby woman raises money for family in Lytton

A Burnaby woman is raising money to help her brothers who lost pretty much everything in the devastating wildfire in Lytton, B.C. Nicole Smith has set up a GoFundMe page that has a goal of $6,000.

A Burnaby woman is raising money to help her brothers who lost pretty much everything in the devastating wildfire in Lytton, B.C.

Nicole Smith has set up a GoFundMe page that has a goal of $6,000.

“Three of my brothers have lost everything, including their home in the wildfire in Lytton,” Smith says in her post. “Any support towards them managing through the next while would be greatly appreciated. As you probably know, a huge portion of Lytton is gone and this means the majority of my family have also lost their homes. I will also be collecting donations of household items that I will deliver to Skuppah donation hub. If you’d like to make any donations towards that please message me.”

Canadians are offering an outpouring of support for the people of Lytton, after a devastating wildfire that destroyed most of the community.

According to GoFundMe, more than $1 million CAD has been donated so far, from every province and territory and across 40 countries.

hub has been set up for all the different fundraisers under the GoFundMe banner and the company continues to monitor and verify efforts to help the families and community of Lytton.

Donations are also pouring in through other agencies, including the Canadian Red Cross.
