The Calgary-based National Energy Board is going to set up a new office in the Lower Mainland this spring.
NEB chair, Peter Watson, told the NOW the board wants to connect better with community stakeholders.
"We've got this ongoing role over here that never stops," Watson said, "and we need to do a better job of connecting with stakeholders in communities, regardless of what happens in these hearings. We have to continue to do this other job over here as effectively as we can. We have to have strong relationships with communities (and) first responders, and we're going to redeploy some staff into the Lower Mainland."
Watson couldn't say exactly where the office would be, but he did say they would be moving into federal government space April 1. The B.C. NEB group will be small and includes inspectors and auditors.
