The Heights Merchants Association's board has a new president.
Josie Romeo, branch manager for Vancity in the Heights, was elected at the board of directors' annual general meeting on Oct. 10, according to a press release from the association.
The association announced its new executive on Wednesday, a day after the board's first meeting following the election.
"I'm very optimistic about the two years ahead," Romeo said in the release. "We have a strong group of board of directors, who are very passionate about the Heights. I'm looking forward to working with all of them. They will bring new ideas and energy that we're all feeling very good about."
Paul Lowey of Gloo Studios and Barb Stefanko of Westminster Savings Credit Union are sharing the role of vice-president, according to the release. Nelson Chow of GNK Insurance will continue as treasurer and Ann Pollak, barrister and solicitor, will continue on as secretary.
The other board directors are: Lisa Beecroft of Caffe Divano, Rino Cioffi of Cioffi's Meat and Deli, Heidi Dueck of United Optical, Jack Kuyer of Valley Bakery, John Latrofa of Caffe Lafontana, KJ Eom of Regent Fish, and Carey Siddoo of Tara S. Siddoo & Sons Ltd., according to the release.
Rishel Tomlinson, owner of Custom Mortgages Real Estate Financing Ltd., finished her two-year term as president at the Oct. 10 meeting, the release stated.
