New Burnaby COVID-19 cases plummet 10% during latest reporting period

COVID-19 cases are rising quickly as B.C. also sees a surge.

New COVID-19 infections in Burnaby have dropped for another consecutive week. 

According to the latest Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Local Health Area of Case Residence, Burnaby recorded 65 new cases from Nov. 14 to 20, 2021. 

From Nov. 7 to 14, 2021, data showed 72 newly diagnosed infections. 

The latest data from the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) equates to a 10% drop. 

Meanwhile, after seeing drops in positivity and case rates last week in Burnaby, both have increased during the latest report from the BC Centre for Disease Control. 

The updated numbers released by the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is dated for Nov. 16 to 22, 2021. 

Case rates are new cases per 100,000 people by local health area and community health service area.

  • Positivity rate: 1%
  • Vaccination coverage (first dose) of those 12 years of age and older: 96%
  • Vaccination coverage (second dose) of those 12 years of age and older: 93%

BURNABY NORTHEAST

  • Positivity rate: 2%
  • Vaccination coverage (first dose) of those 12 years of age and older: 96%
  • Vaccination coverage (second dose) of those 12 years of age and older: 93%

BURNABY SOUTHWEST

  • Case rate: 3
  • Positivity rate: 0%
  • Vaccination coverage (first dose) of those 12 years of age and older: 94%
