There are some new faces at the Burnaby Board of Trade.
At its 106th annual general meeting on Tuesday, BBOT welcomed its new chair and elected a new board of directors.
Frank Bassett replaces previous board chair Dr. Catherine Aczel Boivie. Bassett is currently a senior director at Electronic Arts (EA), a global interactive software company, where he manages the real estate portfolio and the facilities and corporate services operations at EA’s five Canadian locations.
Prior to joining EA in 2004, Bassett worked for Hyatt hotels and resorts, where he spent almost two decades fulfilling a variety of management roles.
Bassett has volunteered with numerous organizations over the years, according to a press release, most recently as a board director with Family Services of Greater Vancouver. In addition to the BBOT board, he also serves on the Board of Canadian United Memorial Church.
He was born in Macon, Ga. and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. Bassett will be at the helm for two years.
Andrew Scott from the B.C. International Commercial Arbitration Centre, meanwhile, will take the position of vice chair. New board directors include Lee-Ann Garnett (City of Burnaby), Trista Humfries (KPMG LLP) and Raj Sharma (B.C. Hydro).
