A group of yogis have come together to “save” a local staple in North Burnaby.

Heights Yoga and Wellness Centre (or simply Heights Yoga) has opened at 4701 Hastings St., a space previously occupied by Modo Yoga, although the two are not affiliated.

Heights Yoga is run by Yuen Wong, Amy Phun, Nash Cisneros and Howie Leung.

Among the team, there is much experience in starting and running successful businesses, but they understand that opening a new yoga studio and wellness centre during a pandemic will be challenging.

“We know first-hand the value of yoga for one’s health and well-being and what it can do for the community,” said Wong. “We welcome everyone to join this warm and inviting, inclusive community studio and wellness centre.”

Following the Provincial Health Officer’s guidelines and with the permission to run low-intensity group exercise classes, like hatha yoga, Heights Yoga had a soft opening on Dec. 21.

With its safety protocols in place, like the mandated social distance and mask wearing, classes began with limited capacity.

Heights Yoga and Wellness Centre is open and will be celebrating its Grand Opening on January 30, 2021. For more information, visit www.heightswellness.ca, call 236-412-7794 or email [email protected].
