The Simon Fraser University (SFU) men's football team is adding three New Westminster products to its roster for next season.

New West Secondary Hyacks tight- and defensive-end Dyson Glavas, centre and defensive tackle Robert Preda and running back Lucas Steele will move next door to Burnaby to continue their football careers at the NCAA level.

Preda was also named team MVP for the past season.

The trio will be joining fellow New Westminster Secondary graduate defensive end Evan Nolli.

SFU currently plays in the NCAA Division II, head coach Mike Rigell, and it hasn't been easy.

During the 2021 season, the team went 1-7 and 0-4 in Great Northwest conference play (GNAC).

The one game they won in the campaign was when they faced Montana State-Northern and came away with a convincing 30-3 win.

The last game of the year saw SFU suffer a brutal 70-0 loss to Central Washington.

Running back Paul Thomas, competing in his last game for SFU, gained 21 yards on six rushes. Freshman receiver Sam Davenport caught a pair of passes for 27 yards.

Sophomores Justin Seiber and Brandon Niksich split the quarterbacking duties. Seiber was 6-of-16 passing for 41 yards. Niksich completed five of 15 throws for 39 yards.
