REPAIRS OK'D AT LOCAL RESTAURANT

The Hart House Restaurant, located in Avalon, the Frederick and Alice Hart residence at Deer Lake Park, will have part of its exterior replaced.

The repairs on the heritage building were approved at a recent council meeting.

The deterioration of some of the building's decorative elements was discovered during a re-roofing project last year, according to a staff report.

The damage requires the reconstruction of parts of the exterior, including the building's parapets.

The city, which owns the building, is covering the cost of the repairs with funds set aside in the 2012 capital plan, the report stated.

CITY OF COLOURS CAMPAIGN

The City of Burnaby has agreed to support the Our City of Colours poster campaign by printing and distributing 80 posters.

Burnaby council approved plans to support the campaign at Monday night's meeting.

The Vancouver organization asked that Burnaby show its support by printing the posters and distributing them to parks, recreation and cultural services facilities, and by helping Our City of Colours connect with Burnaby organizations, a staff report stated.

The group works to promote acceptance of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning community in a number of different linguistic and cultural circles, including the Chinese, Korean, Punjabi and Iranian communities, according to the report.

PARKING METERS FOR EDMONDS

It'll cost more to park along certain streets in Edmonds Town Centre.

Burnaby council has approved plans to add more parking meters in the neighbourhood.

Areas approved for the parking meter expansion include the south side of Kingsway between Greenford and Salisbury avenues, and the north side between Hall and Walker avenues; and the west side of Walker Avenue between Kingsway and Arcola Street, according to a staff report.

The city also approved unmetered 30-minute parking limits on the east side of Walker Avenue between Kingsway and Arcola Street.

GOLF TOURNEY GETS FUNDING GRANT

The Burnaby Civic Employees' Union, local 23 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, will receive $1,000 from the City of Burnaby towards its CUPE 23 Open Golf Tournament.

The grant was one of two approved by city coun-cil at the May 7 council meeting.

Funds raised from the tournament, held on June 2 at the Riverway Golf Course, go to the union's hot lunch school program for Burnaby schools.

The other grant was an in-kind grant of up to $300 for printing costs to the Edmonds Business and Community Association for its 13th annual Spring Clean Sweep in the neighbourhood.
