NOW gets a blue ribbon

The Burnaby NOW is a blue-ribbon winner in the 2013 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards. The NOW received the honour in the category of general excellence for a paper with a circulation of 25,000 or more.

The NOW received the honour in the category of general excellence for a paper with a circulation of 25,000 or more.

The NOW's sister paper, The New Westminster Record, won third place in the category of Best All-Round Newspaper for a paper with a circulation between 12,500 and 24,999.

The award ceremony is scheduled for May 2 during the Ink and Beyond newspaper conference in Ottawa.

More than 250 non-daily publications submitted 2,222 entries for the awards.

The Record also won another award in the 2013 B.C. and Yukon Community Newspaper Association's Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards recently.

The Record won third place in the Newspaper Excellence category.

There were more than 40 winners of the silver newsboy trophy at the gala awards ceremony, held in Richmond last Saturday, and more than 130 finalists in all.
