Police are investigating a number of car break-ins that happened last Friday in the 6800-block of Village Green just off Beresford Street in South Burnaby.
Five vehicles in total were broken into sometime between 6 p.m. Thursday night and 6:30 a.m. Friday morning, according to Cpl. Dave Reid of the Burnaby RCMP.
"Nothing valuable was taken but, of course, the problem we run into is the damage to the vehicles and the associated costs," he said.
The vehicles were all parked in an underground parking lot in one of the condominium buildings within the Village Green area.
Reid couldn't confirm exactly which building was hit but said that police are still investigating how the suspect accessed the secure lot.
"The investigator is working with the property managers to determine whether or not there was security surveillance, or if there is any video available to us," he said.
South Burnaby wasn't the only area in the city hit by break-ins this weekend. Residents in the area of Belcarra and Sierra Drives, north of Hastings Street, awoke Sunday morning to find nine vehicles had been broken into sometime during the night.
One of the residents - whose truck was broken into - said that after discovering the damage to his own vehicle, walked around the neighbourhood and found a number of other vehicles had been hit.
Police could not confirm if they were still investigating these break-ins at this time.
