Opinion: Burnaby drug dealer might have gotten away if his car didn’t stink of weed

Never underestimate the stupidity of drug dealers. If you are driving around in a vehicle filled with bags of drugs, perhaps use one of those hanging air fresheners, down some Tic Tacs and don’t blaze up while in the vehicle.

If you are driving around in a vehicle filled with bags of drugs, perhaps use one of those hanging air fresheners, down some Tic Tacs and don’t blaze up while in the vehicle.

Burnaby RCMP’s gang enforcement team tweeted about a traffic stop Friday night stemming from someone driving while prohibited.

That’s when the officers detected a “strong odour of cannabis” wafting from the vehicle. A search uncovered bags of cannabis and “brownies” that were then seized.

It turns out the registered owner of the vehicle “didn’t know his ‘friend’ had no licence,” the RCMP tweeted, so the vehicle was towed away.

Oh, and the driver also had ID that didn’t belong to him – it turned out to be stolen.

So, yeah, that didn’t end well for these thugs.

The RCMP also tweeted about another drug and weapons seizure that include batons, pepper spray and brass knuckles.

“These are some of the weapons and drugs seized by Burnaby RCMP's Gang Enforcement Team this week. The team is out again tonight and through the weekend -- deterring and disrupting gang, drug, and criminal activity. If you see something suspicious, please call to report it.”
