Opinion: Tyrannical ex-Burnaby neighbour just won’t stop the blood feud

Even after they moved out, the harassment has continued

Nothing worse than a bad Burnaby neighbour

Let me start by saying I’ve been pretty lucky with neighbours over the years.

I can’t think of one who made my life miserable in any way. Sadly, others in Burnaby are not so lucky.

Like the two neighbours who waged a blood feud over the course of at least a year – which hasn’t stopped even after one of them was forced to move out.

No, sir, even that separation hasn’t stopped thing.

The two battled over noise, cigarette smoke and other things, eventually leading to one posting diatribes on Tik Tok and both calling the Burnaby RCMP on each other.

Finally, one of them was forced to leave.

After a period of calm, the tenant who remained received a call from a junk company say they were at his apartment and that he “apparently wanted to get rid of everything I own. I never set up this appointment,” says the tenant who remained.

It turns out his former neighbour has a connection with the company and so he called the RCMP. He also reported receiving multiple “harassing phone calls” but didn’t know who they were from.

After a lot of back and forth and investigation, police informed him that his former neighbour had been served with a harassment letter. But the tenant was also wondering how his former neighbour had gotten his phone number, which is not listed.

It turns out she cribbed it off of a dispute form from the landlord. Now this tenant has retained a lawyer to go after his former neighbour and the landlord over privacy issues.

I’m telling you, reading all of this is just exhausting. I’m 52 and lived in a lot of places and am thankful I’ve never had to deal with this kind of situation.

There never seems to be any way out of it. And COVID-19 seems to making things worse because people are home more and angrier than ever at how long the pandemic has dragged on.

I hope that wherever you live, you don’t have to go through this.
