Look, I hate geese.
Like, I really hate them unless it’s Thanksgiving and someone has roasted a goose for four hours until it’s tender and yummy.
Then I love geese.
Until then, I will despite geese because they are nasty jerks who hiss at people and bully other creatures down at Piper Spit at Burnaby Lake.
Just nasty little things.
They also poop a lot over everything, including my car.
So, just to make that clear. But under no circumstances will I harass geese or do anything to harm them, which is what it looks like has happened recently according to a photo posted by Alex W. on Twitter. (See the tweet below and the photo above.)
“Hi @CityofBurnaby – just wondering if it’s standard practice for your staff to repeatedly drive their vehicle through flocks of geese on the lawn by Shadbolt Centre?”
That seems less than ideal.

In response, the city Twitter account said this: “Hi, parks staff were previously using this technique to discourage the geese from staying on this lawn but are no longer doing this anymore.”
That tweet seems incorrect because according to Alex W., that’s exactly what just happened.
Whoever was doing this needs to get the flock out of here.
