Check out photos from the official holiday launch event Dec. 4

Visitors of all ages turned out under clear skies on Saturday evening to mark the official start of the Christmas season at Burnaby Village Museum.

Bright in Burnaby festivities took place at the village on Saturday, Dec. 4 to kick off the Heritage Christmas season, and photographer Jennifer Gauthier was on hand to capture the fun.

If you missed the opening, never fear: The village is open until Jan. 3 for Heritage Christmas. Visitors can wander the streets of the village amidst seasonal entertainment and activities. There's also an animal-themed holiday scavenger hunt, including a menagerie of eco-sculptures (salmon, herons and hawks among them). The Ice Cream Parlour is open for meals and treats – and, best of all, the 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel is welcoming riders aboard once again.

Gate admission is free, and advance reservations are not required. Carousel rides are $2.65 apiece; rides are at reduced capacity.

Vaccination passports are required for those aged 12+, and everyone aged 5+ is required to mask indoors.
