Photos: Burnaby hosts Australian Rules Football Canada Cup

Teams from across the country participated at Burnaby Lake.

Australian Rules Football teams from across Canada landed in Burnaby to take part in the AFL Canada Cup this past weekend.

Women's teams included the Burnaby Eagles, Calgary Kookaburras, Seattle Grizzlies, a combined team of Etobicoke Kangaroos/Central Blues (Toronto area) and a team of the Ottawa Swans/Quebec Saints/Hamilton Wildcats (known as the Wild Swaints for the tournament).

Burnaby would lose 17-6 in the semifinal at Burnaby Lake against the Wild Swaints, who would be the eventual champions.

There was a single men's game for those who accompanied the women's teams. AFL BC directors had originally intended to also host a men's tournament but weren't able to get the commitment they needed.
