PHOTOS: Burnaby remembers during scaled-back ceremonies due to COVID-19

Ceremonies smaller for second straight year

Although COVID-19 once again challenged Remembrance Day ceremonies this year, community officials, veterans and small crowds gathered to pay their respects to those who served and those who continue to serve Canada.

South Burnaby Branch 83 and North Burnaby Branch 148 both planned smaller events at South Burnaby Cenotaph in Bonsor Park and an unofficial ceremony took place including a small wreath-laying at the cenotaph in North Burnaby.

Veterans of the Korean War gathered for a Remembrance Day wreath-laying ceremony at the Ambassador of Peace Korean War Memorial in Central Park.

Burnaby South MP Jagmeet Singh and Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Pacific Economic Development Agency of Canada the Honourable Harjit Sajjan (also the former Minister of National Defence) were in attendance.

The City of Burnaby asked residents to "Remember in Place" and find a moment of quiet reflection, wherever they were due to COVID-19.
