The Burnaby SPCA is asking the public to keep an eye out for a couple of pigs.

Manager Ryan Voutilainen said the local branch received calls on Saturday, Oct. 22 around 4:30 p.m. reporting the livestock had been seen on Manor Street, between Royal Oak Avenue and Wayburne Drive.

“We weren’t able to locate them,” he said. “Unfortunately, it’s kind of a mystery because we don’t know where they live, so we’re not able to find out the reason why they were in that area.”

Voutilainen suspects perhaps someone could have been babysitting the pigs when they got loose.

“We’ve had cases where we’ve had the odd type of livestock show up at our shelter here and it’s as a result of someone keeping it in an area that isn’t zoned for it, or it would be somebody that’s helping take care of it for someone temporarily and now it’s got loose. Pigs, specifically, are notorious for finding opportunities to get out and have a little fun out on the town,” he said.
