Kinder Morgan has announced dates and locations for public information sessions in Burnaby on the company's pipeline expansion plan.
Kinder Morgan representatives have participated in local public forums organized by other groups, but these two sessions are the first the company has hosted in Burnaby.
The dates are Saturday, Nov. 24 at Stoney Creek Community School, from 1 to 4 p.m., and Monday, Nov. 26 at Eagle Creek restaurant at the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course from 5 to 8 p.m.
Much of the information that will be presented at the sessions is already available on Kinder Morgan's website, set up exclusively for the Trans Mountain expansion plan.
The site, at www.transmountain. com, also allows people to register for an online discussion during the info sessions and outlines suggestions on etiquette for participants. (Tips include avoiding personal insults, staying focused and informing oneself with the online material beforehand.)
Kinder Morgan intends to twin the 1,150-kilometre Trans Mountain pipeline, which has been running oil from Alberta to Burnaby since the 1950s.
The plan also includes doubling capacity at the company's tank farm on Burnaby Mountain and adding two additional docking spaces at the Westridge Marine Terminal, where tankers fill up with crude in the Burrard Inlet.
Kinder Morgan's Burnaby sessions are part of a larger public information campaign held in communities along the pipeline route.
Comments made by participants could be included in the company's submission to the National Energy Board for project approval.
