The arrest of a man and woman suspected in an Oct. 7 Burnaby carjacking has Vancouver police wondering if it's connected to two similar cases.
The first incident happened on Oct. 2, around 11:30 p.m., when a driver parked his car behind an apartment building in the 1200-block of Comox Street.
A man and woman allegedly walked up to the him and, at gunpoint, robbed him of his car. The victim, a man in his 20s, was held in the car while the suspects drove to an automated teller machine and forced him to withdraw money from his bank account. The suspects eventually gave back the car and the victim was not injured.
The second incident occurred four days later, on Oct. 6 at about 2:45 p.m. when a man and a woman in their 20s were walking to their car parked in the 700-block of Bute Street. The pair was allegedly robbed at gunpoint of a wallet, cellphone and their car by a man and woman. The suspects left in the car, which was later found in the 500-block of Homer Street.
One day later, in Burnaby, two suspects allegedly robbed a male who was parking his car in the area of 7200-block of McKay Avenue in the Metrotown area. The suspects allegedly searched the victim and got away with personal belongings, cash and the car keys. The suspects fled in the victim's vehicle.
The man and woman were eventually caught on the New Westminster-Burnaby border after they hit a car and caused a Mountie to sustain minor injuries.
Joseph Ernest Archibald, 36, and Christina Marie Farstad, 30, are both residents of Vancouver and have been charged with robbery.
Archibald also faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, while Farstad is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm.
