Turns out a busy evening for Burnaby RCMP wasn’t as busy as first reported.

Overnight, other media outlets reported several violent incidents around the city early Wednesday morning, including a shooting near Sperling Avenue and Beresford Street and an assault.

However, Burnaby RCMP say there was no shooting, instead what the residents in the area likely heard was a crash from a nearby car accident.

Burnaby RCMP have confirmed officers were called to Edmonds Street and Mary Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday after reports of a possible assault. Mounties are still trying to determine what happened, and at this time, there are no suspects.
