A new protest is underway and a protest march is planned in Burnaby today.

Another “prayer circle” has been set up at the gates along North Road, just south of Highway 1, on the Burnaby-New Westminster border where Trans Mountain has started clearing trees along the Brunette River.

One person was arrested at this same spot on March 4.

“The action brings together practitioners of Unitarian, Christian and Buddhist traditions,” said a news release from Protect the Planet – Stop TMX. “Some practitioners say they will not move if RCMP asks them to, and are prepared to risk arrest.”

A group of Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project opponents will also be gathering at this same spot at around 3 p.m. today to rally before marching all the way to the site of the watch house that was previously set up near the gates of the Burnaby Mountain tank farm.

The march organizers have invited people to join in.
