If you’ve ever wanted to groove to some Bollywood beats, head to Burnaby’s Dancin’ stars for a fun event — for free.

Shiamak Vancouver, a Bollywood dance company in Vancouver, is encouraging folks to get up and dance for a cause this festive season.

For its non-profit Victory Arts Foundation, the company is hosting week-long ‘Dance for Good’ events across Metro Vancouver, including Burnaby, where the community can move to some of the latest trending Bollywood songs (maybe you can go viral on TikTok too — see: Kala Chashma wedding troop).

The organizers hope people will come out and dance for a good cause — and support the community by donating non-perishable food items, which will be given to a shelter home.

Shiamak operates out of Canada, the U.S., India and the U.K., and has been spreading the joy of dance to people across the world. Taking its mission a step further, its Victory Arts Foundation aims to empower individuals with special needs through the power of dance and the performing arts.

Through the non-profit, the company has created a volunteer program called Dance for Good, in which volunteer dancers put on performances for people in senior centres, hospitals and not-for-profit organizations. The aim is to bring communities together through dance and performing arts, and share the joy of dance to heal.

From Friday, Nov. 11 to Wednesday, Nov. 16, the free dance classes will be held in several studios across Metro Vancouver, where people can learn new steps and can donate non-perishable food.
