Metro Vancouver residents awoke to rain this morning, as a weather shift helped to clear away the wildfire smoke that's been creating a haze in the city since Sept. 10.

If you're out and about in Burnaby and New Westminster today, you'll want to dress accordingly. The morning is expected to be cloudy with some showers, while afternoon calls for cloudy with sunny breaks and a high of 19 C, according to the Weather Network.

The forecast is calling for overnight temperatures to drop to 13 C, with some light rain falling Friday morning and turning to showers in the afternoon. Tomorrow's high is expected to reach 18 C.

With the shift in weather comes continued improvement in the area's air quality health index. Metro Vancouver's AirMap reports all monitoring stations in New Westminster and Burnaby have a health index of 2 this morning, or low risk. (The lower the number, the lower the risk to health.)

Metro Vancouver officially lifted its air quality advisory for the city and Central Fraser Valley yesterday.
