Rain, thunderstorm on the way to Burnaby as summer winds down

Burnaby will likely see more rain this week — and maybe even some thunder and lightning — as summer officially draws to a close.

Rain, thunder and lightning are in the forecast for Burnaby as summer turns to fall.

The Weatherhood local forecast for Burnaby calls for some cooler weather to start the week, with a high of 20 C predicted for today (Monday, Sept. 18). 

Tomorrow could be cooler, with a projected high of just 16 C, and thunder and lightning may also come our way as rainfall moves in during the evening and overnight hours into Wednesday.

By Thursday, we could be welcoming back sunny skies and highs of 21 C.

Meanwhile, there's continued good news on the air quality front. Though much of British Columbia is currently under air quality advisories — with Environment Canada warning of poor air in the Okanagan, Cariboo and Peace River regions — the Metro Vancouver area remains clear. 

Metro Vancouver's AirMap currently shows Burnaby's air quality health index sitting at a 2, or low risk, at all six of the city's monitoring stations.
