Funding for the preliminary design, specifications and documents for the family change room, as well as the renovation - $300,000 altogether - was approved by council at Monday night's meeting.

The Eileen Dailly Leisure Pool and Fitness Centre is having its leisure pool water play features replaced, at a cost of $40,000, and is also getting an entrance vestibule, at a cost of $30,000 according to the report.

The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is getting upgrades to its signs along Deer Lake Avenue, at a cost of $40,000.

And sand and soil-based sports fields, including Kensington Park, Central Valley East Rugby Field and the Riverway Sports Complex are being improved at a cost of $750,000, according to the report.

Council also approved funding to upgrade the Byrne Road and Meadow storm drainage pump stations, and to install a new control at the Byrne Road station at the Aug. 27 council meeting. The cost for the project is estimated at $77,000, according to a report from the city's acting director of engineering, Barry Davis.

Council approved $55,000 in funding to develop an optimal signal timing plan for the Kingsway corridor, and $33,000 to purchase lane right-of-ways to allow for drainage improvements, and access for garbage trucks at the August meeting as well.
