The Caring Place houses 12 non-profit organizations; the building needs a new roof and other repairs.

The Caring Place Society, which houses 12 non-profits in Richmond, is receiving a $245,000 gaming grant from the provincial government to replace its roof.

This is about half the estimated cost of replacing the roof on the building located on Granville Avenue near No. 3 Road.

Earlier this year, the News reported how the Caring Place Society needed $500,000 to replace the roof and another $1.5 million to fix cracks in the balconies.

The building also needs envelope work.

To fundraise for these building repairs, they launched a campaign called the Caring Forever Fund through the Vancouver Foundation.

The funding is part of $140 million provided annually through Community Gaming Grants.
