A small roof fire at the Sears Metrotown location on Tuesday afternoon has led to the store being closed while Burnaby firefighters try to air the smoke out.

According to Burnaby NOW photographer Larry Wright, who was on the scene, a small re-roofing project ignited, leading to a small fire.

Smoke was drawn into the store through the air intakes and staff then evacuated the entire store as Burnaby firefighters put out the fire and tried to get the smoke out.

Nobody was hurt in the fire, save for one person who jammed a finger on a door while trying to leave the store.

Burnaby firefighters were still trying to clear smoke out of the store at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
