Second doses against COVID-19 among eligible Burnaby children see slight uptick

Percentage rate moves up by one.

A BCCDC report says 35% of children aged 5-11 in Burnaby have received one dose of COVID-19 as of Dec. 20, 2021.

After stalling for two consecutive weeks, second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in eligible children aged 5-11 rose. 

The BC Centre for Disease Control's (BCCDC) vaccine coverage progress by Local Health Authority update for May 29, says Burnaby's rate increased by one per cent to 56. 

Percentages across Fraser Health as of May 29, 2022, are as follows: 

  • Tri-Cities - 52 per cent
  • Surrey - 38 per cent 
  • South Surrey/White Rock - 49 per cent
  • New Westminster - 57 per cent 
  • Mission - 25 per cent 
  • Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows - 43 per cent
  • Langley - 40 per cent 
  • Hope - 20 per cent 
  • Delta - 50 per cent 
  • Chilliwack - 28 per cent 
  • Burnaby - 56 per cent
  • Agassiz/Harrison - 23 per cent 
  • Abbotsford - 26 per cent

In order to be vaccinated, five-to-11-year-olds must first be registered in B.C.'s Get Vaccinated system, after which time an invitation will be sent (by text or email) to book an appointment.
