Second doses of COVID-19 vaccine in eligible Burnaby children still seeing little to no movement

Percentage only went up one per cent in eight-day span.

Updated provincial data shows the COVID-19 vaccination rate of eligible children is still moving slowly. 

The BC Centre for Disease Control's (BCCDC) vaccine coverage progress by local health area update shows second doses for those eligible children aged 5-11 and increased by one per cent to 53% from April 18 to 24, 2022. 

Percentages across Fraser Health as of April 24, 2022, are as follows: 

  • Tri-Cities - 50%
  • Surrey - 35%
  • South Surrey/White Rock - 47%
  • New Westminster - 54%
  • Mission - 24%
  • Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows - 40%
  • Langley - 38%
  • Hope - 19%
  • Delta - 48%
  • Chilliwack - 27%
  • Burnaby - 53%
  • Agassiz/Harrison - 21%
  • Abbotsford - 25%

Here's how to get your child vaccinated in B.C.

In order to be vaccinated, five-to-11-year-olds must first be registered in B.C.'s Get Vaccinated system, after which time an invitation will be sent (by text or email) to book an appointment.
