Vancouver police have awarded two members of SFU’s pipe band with certificates of merit for helping save a life this past summer.

Langley brothers Brian and Graham Haddon were on their way to the airport, to fly to Scotland to compete in the World Pipe Band championships. On the way, they heard horrific screams after a woman on a motorbike was pinned by an SUV. The brothers’ family pulled over, and the two siblings jumped into rush hour traffic to help the motorcyclist out from under the SUV. The Haddons then administered first aid until police arrived.

Brian, 20, and Graham, 19, received the certificate of merit at a special ceremony on Jan. 19 in Vancouver. The brothers still made their flight to Scotland.
