Exam time is always a stressful time at university.
To break free from the pressure of studying and cramming for finals, and to attempt to set a new world record, hundreds of students from Simon Fraser University will be cutting a rug this weekend to the popular song Good Feelin', by Flo Rida, in a mass choreographed dance routine.
Joining them will be students at seven other universities across Canada, doing the same dance at the same time - 2 p.m. PST on Saturday, April 6.
The Crush Exam Stress and Just Dance event at SFU is being organized in partnership by campus dance club YOURS Dance, and Ubisoft, producer of the Xbox game called Just Dance.
According to Anthony Lam, with YOURS Dance crew, the dance needs to include more than 800 people doing the same moves in an enclosed space to set a new Guinness world record.
"It's (also) just to gather the community and get people excited just before exams, so that students can kind of relax just prior to the stress of exams," said Lam.
Members of the public can join in the dance and even help the cause, since whichever school gets the largest turnout will win a $2,500 cheque from Ubisoft, to be donated to a charity of the students' choice.
The event starts at noon with a dance lesson, with the challenge running from 2 to 3 p.m.
The location will most likely be at Seaforth Elementary School in Burnaby, at 7881 Government Rd., Lam said.
Participants can get confirmation of the location online and view a video on the website to see the choreography of the planned routine once they have registered.
