Mounties in Burnaby are investigating after shots were fired on Eton Street last week.
According to police, the department received several calls reporting shots fired in the 4100 block of Eton Street at about 7:20 p.m. on June 23. When officers arrived on scene, evidence was found confirming shots were fired.
Some witnesses told police they had seen a suspect running west down Eton Street while two more suspects climbed into a silver van that had been parked on the street. Both were wearing masks. The van also fled westbound. A black SUV was also seen leaving the area at the time of the shooting, according to a media release from Burnaby RCMP.
Burnaby RCMP say they do not believe the shooting was connected to any recent incidents in other cities.
“The Burnaby RCMP believe that this was a targeted incident. But the fact this happened in a family neighbourhood as people were finishing dinner concerns us greatly. This kind of criminal behaviour is not acceptable in Burnaby,” said Cpl. Daniela Panesar, spokesperson for Burnaby RCMP.
According to Panesar, a number of police resources have been assigned to investigate the incident.
